Vagueness

Now seems like a good time to point out something obvious. The common link in all types of bullshit discriminatory politics is vagueness. --- who want to justify something cruel do so by not specifying what it is. Over time the intentions, stated or otherwise, drift according to the will of whoever is talking loudest.
Let's take the example of "britishness". If one thinks about the meaning, looking at what british people have done in the past, one will find a host of good and bad things. Inventiveness, progressiveness, colonialism, racism, justice, equality, oppression. It is a term so vague that it can be used to justify anything: If there is no generally understood definition, then a charismatic --- can claim anything.
The goal of these ---s is to make people identify with an arbitrary and undefined concept. People are often willing to defend their identity regardless of what it implies. A person who calls themself "british" will attack those who are portrayed as "unbritish", without knowing what the outsider actually is or wants. Whilst few people would declare themself to be fascist, if anti-fascists are declared to be "unbritish", then the result is achieved.
But there are solutions. Here's a possible step 1: Give a definition to "britishness". Just select the good bits, assert that they are the important parts, and let people decide whether they identify with it or not. If people are unhappy, they can choose whether to publicly align themselves to the more inhumane aspects. It's easy to align oneself with an identity that includes racism than to declare oneself a racist.
Step 2 of course is to let people realise that if "britishness" is just being a good person, then the name isn't worth much. Someone from another place who also tries to be a good person is as "british" as a "british" person.
Step 3 is the long term fix: Help people feel good enough about themselves that they don't need to accept external ideas of identity from the ---s. An independent person can just decide what is good. You don't need to be part of a herd if that herd is not attacking outsiders, because you won't fear that you'll be attacked for becoming an outsider.

Nun ŝajnas bona okazo por indiki ion evidentan. La komuna ligo inter ĉiuj specoj de fekaĵa diskriminacia politiko estas malklareco. Aĉuloj kiuj volas pravigi ion kruelan faras tion per ne specifi tion kio ĝi estas. Dum tempo la intencoj, diritaj aŭ ne, drivas laŭ la volo de tiu kiu parolas plej laŭte.
Ni prenu ekzemplon de "briteco". Se oni pripensas la signifon, rigardante tion kion britoj estas farintaj pasintece, oni trovos amason de bonaj kaj malbonaj aferoj. Inventemo, progresemo, koloniismo, rasismo, justeco, egalismo, subpremado. La termino estas tiom malpreciza ke oni povas uzi ĝin por pravigi ion ajn: Se ne ekzistas ĝenerale komprenata difino, influema aĉulo povas aserti ion ajn.
La celo de tiuj aĉuloj estas igi ke homoj identigu kun arbitra kaj maldifinita koncepto. Homoj ofte pretas defendi sian identecon, sendepende de tio kion ĝi implicas. Homo kiu nomas sin "brita" atakos tiujn kiujn oni prezentas kiel "nebritajn", sen scii aŭ kiu estas, aŭ kion efektive volas, la eksterulo. Kvankam malmultaj homoj deklarus sin faŝista, se kontraŭfaŝismulojn iu deklaras "nebritaj", la rezulto efektiviĝas.
Sed ekzistas solvoj. Jen ebla paŝo 1: Donu difinon al "briteco". Nur elektu la bonajn ecojn, asertu ke ili estas la gravaj, kaj lasu al homoj decidi ĉu ili identas kun tio aŭ ne. Se homoj ne kontentas, ili povas elekti ĉu publike identigi sin kun la pli malhomaj ecoj. Estas facile alianciĝi sin kun identeco kiu inkluzivas rasismon ol deklari sin rasisma.
Paŝo 2 nature estas lasi ke homoj ekkonscii ke se "briteco" estas nur esti bona ulo, la nomo ne multe valoras. Iu de alia ejo kiu ankaŭ provas esti bona ulo estas tiom "brita" kiom "brita" ulo.
Paŝo 3 estas la long-daŭra solvo: Helpi al homoj sentiĝi sufiĉe bona pri si ke ili ne bezonu de la aĉuloj akcepti eksterajn ideojn pri identeco. Sendependa ulo povas simple decidi pri kio estas bono. Oni ne bezonas estas parto de homamaso se tiu homamaso ne atakas eksterulojn, ĉar oni ne timos ke oni estos atakata por iĝi eksterulo.
